Reviewing the Leica Summicron-M 28mm F2.0 ASPH.
Thank you for the honest, thoughtful valuable review of this lens. So much from a usability & real world application, not just listing the specs but taking them and aligning them to what it means in the shooting environment. Thank you
I bought a 21mm Super-Elmar to do the same job in my kit: challenge me to get closer and require me to imagine what the photo will look like with proportions exaggerated by the wide angle. My early photos were lifeless and dull because I was too far away, but over time I got more comfortable. This has also carried back to my 35mm use, where photos have more drama because I'm always getting close and portraits carry a sense of intimacy they didn't before. I considered a 28mm so I wasn't without frame lines, but figured I'd go for something that could become more of a signature look if I took to the FoV.
