Great article Gajan and completely agree even though I only had the sl3 for a short while before the update. Curious what this looks like: Other brands have nailed this, and I’d love to see Leica take a crack at it: manual focus confirmation beyond focus peaking. Being able to adapt an M lens and see clear confirmation of focus acquisition

Imagining a faint, grey box over a subjects face or eyes and as you pull focus with an M lens, the box turns green when it acquires focus. Might be wishful thinking, but would be an incredible feat.

Focus confirmation. If Leica added this I'd be back into the SL system immediately.

I learn something everything I read one of your posts, Gajan. Even if it's, "Well look at that, I'm still not that much into gear"! I read what you've presented and I get a clear picture of your reflective process. I like the idea of an unobtrusive camera that gains a patina...makes me want to try one out... What I love is the richness of the subjects you capture. So much story!

Thank you Corrine. Even with the gear pieces, my hope is to share some flavour and context that many can find enjoyable. Or at the very least, some interesting photos. Appreciate you reading ✌🏾

Yes! It's a great mix! When I've been asked if I plan to "go pro" it's always been the gear that feels like too much. I guess part of that is that I'd have to slow the process down and plan it out...and learn about how to use it all. Right now I'm focusing on music.

So, yes, I do enjoy reading about the gear you use, it feels more like your discussing collegu3s, co-producers.

Great read. Good to see Leica treating the firmware as an evolution and it's massive to see it's replaced your digital medium format kit. 2026 will only see Leica grow and your view highlights the capacity and capability that these cameras really have in them.

Agreed. I feel like there's plenty on the table, but I love that things are being tackled at a fast pace. Thanks for reading ✌🏾

I have never known of a photographic brand as attentive to its customer base regarding technical feedback, nor do I know of one willing to make such significant updates. Many don't pause to think of how big a deal it is, for other brands, this would be cannibalizing future sales - Leica plays a long game while still releasing gear at an impressive pace.
