Task accomplished. Too bad we can’t attach video or photos to comments. I’ll publish a note with a short video and a longer post with details on my feed.
The idea of a pocket portfolio is wonderful! I have been printing 4x6s of my work recently with the thought that I would curate them into a collage on my wall. But I think I would rather curate them into a portfolio book instead.
Excited to dig into this little project in the new year, thanks for the inspiration Gajan!
Prior to making the body of the book (the pages were printed last night), the layout and page sequencing needed to be done. If binding single pages such as with ring or perforated books/pamphlets the sequencing is trivial. For those making books with signatures a "book dummy" needs to be done, at least that's my case. The book dummy shown in a video posted to my notes is pretty simple; just used letter size sheets folded in half with test strips to keep the sequence. Today and tomorrow, I'll make the book.
Hi Gajan! You know, I saw this and thought YES! great idea and I'm only getting back to it now. This is exactly what I need. To make. To see a physical item that I have created and not just something that felt like a 'good idea' at some point. To respect my own works and show some attention to them instead of consuming the works of others only. So today, I'll choose 5 photos that represent something to me, maybe like a 5 card tarot draw. Perfect timing as I finish out the year looking at where I've been and doing some editing and putting on the map where I really want to spend my life.
Still not printed, and yet the thoughts are positive. Works well in looking back at the year! Why didn’t I think of doing this before?! I guess I needed the challenge!
First of all, Happy Holiday, Brother. I have a Canon Pro100, and I try to print often, but much like yourself, at one point, my printer started to give me grays instead of solid blacks and some color cast, which made the printing process stop being a part of the workflow. I did purchase a small Canon 4x6 printer and got back into it. All that to say, I am in, I am currently going through the 2025 folder and pulling the best shots, so this is perfect timing. Thanks for the continuous inspiration.
Luckily I just fixed my printer a couple of weeks ago and was thinking about printing some Pictures, but to have them in a small travel book, that sounds cool hahahaha

Do it, and let me know how the process goes.
Happy holidays friend!
Gajan,
I’m really looking forward to your challenges.
Two weeks ago, I printed 30 images and put them into a small portfolio that I’ve been carrying with me ever since.
Over the next few days, I’ll start printing my favorites from this year. I want to make this a regular habit—and also catch up on the past years.
Happy holidays!
That's amazing, send me a picture on IG. And I'm right there with you, looking to print a few favourites every couple months.
Happy holidays!
