Great write-up 🙌 The X100 is now a more serious competitor to the Leica Q system, which is great in my book. The improvements are all expected though. Even without the leaks most of us would have guessed pretty much all of these. Would have been nice if Fujifilm had included a kicker feature of sorts. Something on top of what the camera needed to be. What I've always wished for it's proper parametric RGB curves in camera. That shouldn't be too hard to do and it would set fire to the recipe community, which is really where this camera belongs.

Still a great upgrade! Me, I'm waiting on the X-E5.

Would you buy the V or VI if you didn’t have either and price not an issue?

If price weren’t an issue, the VI feels like the better buy. But if you find a great deal on the V, it’s still a hell of a camera.

I’d love to have one as an EDC hahahaha, simply for its size and the love I have for 35mm or equivalent focal lengths, but I’m probably not gonna be able to afford it for a while. Awesome first impressions Gajan, excited to see the review

Gajan, A very nice early review of a long awaited camera. BUT, does it hold a candle to the Leica Q3? Alan

In short, the X100VI brings more to the table but the Q3 can hit higher peaks in spots I value most. So it really comes down to the photographer.

I pre-ordered, but am unsure if this is a must buy since I have the x100v.

I don’t think it is in this situation. Really depends on how and how much you shoot. Good luck!

My personal 2 cents, all camera perform great in a studio setup. X100V was initially considered to be a street camera. While the upgrades on X100VI makes it both street and studio compatible, I will for your review on how it actually performs in the streets with harsh light or greys, in a fast paced atmosphere.

It looks great! I honestly might buy one just in case the price of used X100V’s doesn’t drop far enough… since that camera’s aftermarket is crazy lol!

I’m not sure 40 MP is necessary on APS-C though, I wonder if it makes low-light shooting pretty bad?

I’m gonna test it further but so far, it performs as good and in some situations, the noise is easier to clean up in post.

Thanks for sharing, Gajan. I just pre-ordered one in silver. The moment I looked at photos from the X-T5 I said I'd get an X100VI if it came with that sensor and processor. I'm excited about going back to having a single camera — one that I have with me all the time, one that's easy to travel with, and now one that's much more capable with regard to having better autofocus, added IBIS, etc.
